BILLIE A. McMANN

Billie A. McMann, age 82, of Kahoka, MO, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at his home. A special thank you to our sister Janie for the special care she gave our dad in this last four weeks of his life.

Billie was born October 7, 1936 at Fordland, MO, a son of Carl Boyd and Nancy Jane "Janie" Salisberry McMann.

He was united in marriage to Clara Powell on March 30, 1958 at Atlanta, MO.

Survivors include his wife, Clara, of the home; five children: Arnold McMann of West Point, IA, Dale (Pam) McMann of Kahoka, MO, Gary McMann of Canton, MO, Janie (Roy) Rankin of Kahoka, MO, and Cynthia (Jay) Childress of Camdenton, MO; ten grandchildren:

Brandon (Gina) McMann of West Point, IA, Adam McMann (Jeremy Melvin) of Montrose, IA, Andrew McMann of Riverside, IA, Justin (Brandy) McMann of Fort Madison, IA, Katrina McMann (Alex Shaw) of Kahoka, MO, Tamara McMann (Jeff Shotts) of Revere, MO, and Paul Bell, Melissa Campbell (Michael), Joshua Noble and Tabitha Noble, all of Kahoka, MO; eighteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; one brother, Darrell (Pearl) McMann of Millard, MO; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Gary (Marilyn) Powell of Green Castle, MO and Eddie (Linda) Powell of Novinger, MO; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a still-born son, Clarence Allen McMann on February 7, 1974; a granddaughter, Clarissa Childress Somers; and two brothers, Laverne and Lowell McMann.

Billie was a U. S. Marine veteran. He spent fifty-five years of his life as an over the road truck driver. He worked for several trucking companies in the area and had a special relationship with Tug Boat Trucking out of Bonaparte. Billie also worked at F&S Warehouse as a driver. He retired at the age of 79.

Billie was a dedicated member of the Kahoka Lion’s Club and the Herman Blum Post # 192, American Legion. He spent countless hours making ice cream with the money made being poured back into the community providing eye glasses and items to those with needs. He also spent countless hours providing military rites to fellow veterans. He was a faithful member of Trinity Worship Center in Kahoka.

Billie loved his family. His home may of been small, but his heart was large and all were always welcome at Clara’s and Bill’s. He loved his red truck and was proud to drive it each year in the Old Settler’s parade with the American Legion.

He loved watching mud runs, especially when his sons were involved and went anytime he could. He did a lot of fishing and made his children’s first fishing poles. He loved to play cards at Gary's on the weekends. In the last few years as his health deteriorated, he loved to sit on the porch whittling and to go out "gomming" (driving) around.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Kim McNamar officiating.

Burial with military rites followed in the Kahoka Cemetery.
