Betty Ray, age 93, of Kahoka, MO, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka.

Betty was born October 1, 1928, in Marshalltown, IA, a daughter of Ernest and Elsie Davis


She married Billy Ray on May 8, 1946, at Marshalltown, IA, he preceded her in death on February 3, 2015.

Betty loved to ride horses, go camping, dancing, singing, and yodeling, all activities to which her family participated in too, making these memories even more special. Every year Betty looked forward to riding to Fort Maison for the Tri-State Rodeo with her friends and family. God and family were Betty’s biggest joys in life. She worked on the homestead with Billy throughout the years and retired from Riverside Plastics in Bonaparte, IA, in 1995.

Survivors include her two daughters-in-law; Jeannie Ray and Terry (Tom) Matlock, both of Kahoka, grandchildren; Brad (Brenda) Hopp of Toulon, IL, Dusty Ray of Wyaconda, Candy (Brad) Kirchner of Wyaconda, Wendy (Rick) Atterberg of Kahoka, Tyann (Eric) Gray of Canton, Derek Ray of Kahoka, and Kyle (Amber) Ray of Kahoka, twenty-three great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, one brother, Ronnie (Karen) Davis, one sister, Rose Marie (Marlin) Gardner both of Marshalltown, IA, two sister-in-laws; Skip Davis and LeVonna Collier also both of Marshalltown, IA, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. As well as her faithful companion, Hunter “Little Buddy”.


In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Elsie Davis; three sons, Larry, Jerry and Roy Ray; one daughter, Sharon Hopp, two grandchildren, Rusty Ray and Tammie Boatman; her brothers, Robert (Audrey) Davis, Harry (Evelyn) Davis, Ernest "Jr." (Ruth) Davis, sisters, Edna (Robert) Ray, Mary Ann (Francis) Hines, and her in-laws, Roy and Minnie Mae Ray.

Funeral services for Betty Ray were held Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at Peaksville Christian Church in Peaksville. A private family viewing was held from 9-10A.M. Pastor Shawn McAfee officiated the service. Burial followed in the Kahoka Cemetery.
