Joan Palmer, 89, of Kahoka, passed away at 4:15pm on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois with her family by her side. Joan was born on March 3, 1934 in Fort Madison, Iowa to James and Dora Ethel (Wellfort) Anthony.  Joan married Gene S. Palmer April 17, 1954, and he preceded her in death April 26, 2008.


Joan is survived by 2 sons: Stuart (Gena) Palmer of Wayland, MO, David (Kim Johnson) Palmer of Kahoka, MO, 5 Grandchildren; Quinn Palmer, Levi (Kristi) Palmer, Matthew (Jenny) Palmer, Hanna (Marty) Seyb and Charli (Scott) Walters. 9 Great Grandchildren, 2 Half-Brothers; John (Sharon) Little, and Jack “Beatle” Little, other relatives and friends. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Kevin Palmer in 2018, 1 sister; Barbara Glasscock, 1 half-sister; Jeanne Ogle, 3 half- brothers; Charles Little, Herbert Little, and Butch Little.


Joan was a member of the Granger United Methodist Church, she taught at several different schools and before her retirement she was a Principal at Luray School.  She enjoyed reading books and had quite a collection of them and also loved to go bowling. She enjoyed making porcelain dolls and working with ceramics. Joan liked to bake and was known for her famous divinity, noodles, and her dinner rolls.  She also made wedding cakes for several family and friends. Joan was a member of the March of Dimes and faithfully gave to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews and to St Jude’s. She had a very loving and kind heart and found good in everybody. Her 3 boys and grandchildren were all very important to her.  


Graveside Services for Joan Palmer will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Kahoka Cemetery, Kahoka, Mo. Pastor Shawn McAfee will officiate. Visitation will be held at 12:00 pm prior to graveside until 1:00 Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home in Kahoka, Mo. Memorial contributions in memory of Joan Palmer are suggested to the Clark County Nutrition Site or the American Heart Association.
