ANNA MARIE WISS

Anna Marie Wiss, age 87, of Kahoka, MO, entered quietly into heaven on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. She passed away as a result of complications from a chronic neuro musculature disease. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Ann was born on September 18, 1928, in Lewistown, MO, a daughter of Omer and Emma Spath Turpin. She grew up on the family farm and loved playing high school basketball. Upon graduation from LaBelle High School, she attended Gem City Business College in Quincy. It was there that she would meet the love of her life and future husband, Bernard Joseph Wiss. The two were married on September 12, 1948, in Kahoka. They remained inseparable over the next sixty-one years until his passing in April of 2009.

In addition to her spouse, Anna was preceded in death by her siblings Vern, William, Wilbur, Harold and Virgil Turpin, Opal Zell,and a sister in infancy as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bob and Mary Curley, Walter Marty, Helen Turpin, Aurlyn B. Turpin, Rose Turpin, and Dick Zell.

Survivors include her five children: Kathy (Stanley) Welker and Jennifer (Dave) Riney, all of Kahoka, Mary (Todd) Drennan of Colorado Springs, CO, Teresa McKerrow of Columbia, MO and Greg (Veronica) Wiss of Mesquite, TX; eleven grandchildren: Stephanie (Bert) Slater and Amanda Welker, all of Canton, Matthew (Casie) Riney of Newton, IA, Peter (Kristin) Riney of Columbia, Sarah Riney of Independence, Rachel (Erik) Kirchner of Columbia, Patrick and Thomas Drennan, both of Colorado Springs, CO, Sara McKerrow of Dallas, TX, and Christian and Ashley Denning, both of Mesquite, TX; ten great-grandchildren: Sophia, Olivia and Isabella Slater, Alexandra and Jackson Riney, EmmaLee, Cole, and Lilli Riney, Matthew Denning and Preston Nelson; siblings: Geneva Marty, Mildred (Ted) Bogener, Erma (Bill)Wilkinson, and Russell (Beulah) Turpin; special friends: Dovie Passmore, Christy Oilar, Linda Morgan, Ruth St. Clair and Connie Kirchner; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Ann was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend and a good and faithful Catholic. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and of the Altar and Rosary Society. Her family was always her first priority. She was an integral part of her grandchildren's lives. She and B. J. enjoyed attending many of their school activities. They also enjoyed traveling. Ann was an avid reader and an enthusiastic St. Louis Cardinal fan. Other hobbies included gardening, refinishing antique furniture, feeding her cardinals and other wild birds. Ann leaves behind many wonderful memories for her family and friends to cherish. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with her loving husband.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the caring and compassionate nurses and physicians at Blessing Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kahoka, MO with Father Boniface officiating and Kristin Roth, Pastoral Administrator. Burial will follow in the Kahoka Cemetery.

Friends may call at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka after 9 a.m. Friday with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. followed by a Rosary and Scripture Service.

Memorials are suggested to St. Michael's Catholic Church, The Clark Co. Nutrition Site, or the H. E. Sever Memorial Library.
