ADA M. PADEN

Ada Marie Paden, age 99, of Kahoka, MO, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka where she had resided since 1993.

She was born to George and Lucinda Smith Graham on February 2, 1906 in Lee County, Iowa, in the Sharon neighborhood.

On August 3, 1925, she was united in marriage to Clarence "Buck" Paden. He preceded her in death in November of 1973.

She is survived by a grandson, Mike McLean and his wife, Janet, of Bonner Springs, Kansas; two granddaughters, Kelly Darter and her husband, John, of St. Louis, Michigan, and Shawn McLean and her companion, Keith Venables, of Leander, TX; three great grandchildren, Cortney Lindsey and Zachary and Jacob Darter; two great-great grandchidren, Sean and Marisa Lindsey; a niece who was raised as her sister, Verla Cahill of Farmington, Iowa; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Carol Lou Paden, on September 7, 2004; five brothers: Ed, Louis, Walter, Roy, and Merle Graham; six sisters: Ethel Dinsmore, Anna Brown, Beulah Graham, Maude Curley, Jennie Belle Graham, and one in infancy.

Ada spent her early years in the Sharon area where she was a member of the Sharon Presbyterian Church until later years when she moved her membership to the Kahoka Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.She spent several years as a waitress and eight years as an employee of Moore's Business Forms. For fourteen years she had been employed at the former Shaffer and Son's Funeral Home.

Ada loved to crochet and share her afghans with friends and family. She was also a wonderful cook and was known for her delicious hot rolls. She loved to be with friends and enjoyed walking around the square and the city park. Above all else, she adored her family. She and her family appreciated the staff and residents of the Clark Co. Nursing Home and are thankful for their care and the love they gave her in these last years.

Funeral services are Thursday, October 27, 2005 at 10 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Charles Hammack officiating. Burial will follow in Sharon Cemetery, rural Farmington, IA.

Friends can call at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka after 11 a.m. Wednesday with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the family.
